Columbus, OH – Signal Ohio, a leading nonprofit news organization dedicated to serving Ohio communities through local journalism, is excited to announce the launch of its third newsroom, Signal Cincinnati. This expansion marks Signal Ohio as the fastest-growing nonprofit news initiative in the nation. Additionally, we are honored to welcome Delores Hargrove-Young, a distinguished Cincinnati leader, to our Board of Directors.

This month Signal Cincinnati will launch the Documenters program, an innovative initiative that trains and pays local residents to attend and document local government meetings, making government proceedings more accessible and understandable to the public. These civic-minded residents are at the heart of Signal’s newsrooms creating a new public record that is available to journalists and residents alike. Since its inception in Ohio in 2020, the program has engaged over 900 Documenters in Cleveland and Akron, covering more than 1,000 local government meetings. Greater Cincinnati residents are encouraged to sign up and learn more about the program and join the expanding team of Cincinnati Documenters.

Rita McNeil Danish, CEO of Signal Ohio, expressed her enthusiasm for the organization’s growth, stating, “With my deep ties as former city solicitor going back more than decade, I’m excited to be back in Cincinnati as we work towards the Signal Cincinnati launch. Cincinnati is a crucial city in Ohio with engaged leaders and residents who have told us they want more news and information in the Greater Cincinnati area. Our mission includes providing good news and information to help citizens of Greater Cincinnati make informed decisions. One such leader is joining our board, Delores Hargrove-Young, and I’m especially excited to have her join our statewide network, including the launch of Signal Cincinnati.”

Delores Hargrove-Young, Vice Chairwoman of d.e. Foxx & Associates, Inc., brings her extensive strategic leadership and community service experience to Signal Ohio’s Board of Directors. Recognized for her contributions with numerous awards, including the 2019 Metropolitan Award, the 2020 Enquirer Woman of the Year Award, and the 2024 Great Living Cincinnatian, Hargrove-Young’s involvement promises to significantly benefit Signal Ohio’s mission and growth.
